gather the Minions!

Posted in Paperie

Although I do not work with licensed characters here at adelphi mou there are two ‘clients’ I can never say no to… my nephews! This time round the eldest of the two is turning 7 and on Sunday we gathered round to celebrate this milestone. My sister Josefa who you may know from always Josefa gave me official word last year that the little man wanted a Despicable Me theme and with that he already knew that cake he wanted… Gru & Lucys wedding cake!

So with a wedding cake first on the list and my own personal obsession with the minions the ideas started to flow and instead of sticking to one theme I decided to have individual items from both the movies to capture its fun & quirkiness. This is my first ever styled table set up and I would love to hear what you think if it!

The main table set up, with the custom art I created. A great feature is seeing Grus logo being transformed to the letter A for the birthday boy!

Gru & Lucys Wedding cake The Birthday cake & cupcakes created by Baked by Belinda .

Salsa & Salsa Chocolate bars featuring Pollito the adorable angry chicken from despicable me 2. Thanks a Minion – Personalised party favour bags.

Evil Minion macarons with RedSkin favour ganache ‘antidote’ created by my gorgeous friend Jade. Cool yourself down at minion beach with these water bottles.

Sherbet Bomb from Gru’s Lab, Cupcakes from the ’Bake My Day’ store Lucy works at in paradise mall, mini Banana lollies capturing the infamous minion mini movie & individual food labels for the hotdog buffet.

Popcorn & Fairy floss stand & no entry up the stairs both with custom signage.

Minion & Banana photo props with custom created signage… say BANANA!

Kids craft tables with mini minion & evil minion cupcakes created by Frostalicious Cupcake Creations with the cupcake flags I created.

Craft activity – Decorate your own minion with pre cut felt, custom created shapes, glitter stickers and lots of glue. I must say being a huge minion fan, this ‘bee doo’ character is my favourite!

A huge effort has gone into making this day happen with a majority of the work, party styling and co-ordination of the days events by my sister Josefa. The other fantastic people involved in making today happen are: Table styling & invitations: adelphi mou | Cake & Minion cupcakes: Baked by Belinda | Mini Cupcakes: Frostalicious Cupcake Creations | Macarons: Jade | Balloons: Taynelle Party Balloon Designs | Table & Chair Hire: All For Kids Party Hire | Entertainment: Luigi Zucchini

Themes are so much fun because you can bring to life the things that the kids love the most. Seeing the joy in their eyes is priceless.

    • marita @ adelphi mou

Hi Melissa, These were white paper bags that I glued the design onto. Really simple and was huge hit for the children.
